Why We Love Apple Cider Vinegar!
It’s no great secret that us Gut Happy girls are massive fans of Apple Cider Vinegar or ACV as we call it. We especially love the taste of the Gut Happy ACV and every time we attend an event and have taste testings we get the best feedback about how palatable our ACV is. With Gut Happy Apple Cider Vinegar you have all the benefits of ACV (with the mother) as well as the added bonus of ginger, which is great for digestion and also tumeric, which has anti inflammatory properties.
Whichever way you look at it Apple Cider Vinegar is a powerhouse, but we thought we’d share some great and useful tips for using it daily in your home and with your family.
Use ACV in cooking is a great way to incorporate it into your family’s diet, as the flavour and acid content is the perfect addition to marinades. ACV can tenderise meats and we also use it in salad dressings as Tamara will demonstrate on Friday at our Learn to Get Gut Happy evening at Bodiline Pilates in Port Macquarie. Great for the all important internal health of your body as you can use it when you feel a sore throat coming on. Gargle in diluted water for 10 seconds or more and spit it out and it works a treat to lesson the symptoms of colds and flu as it discourages the growth of bacteria and is a great energiser for your metabolism.
Not only is ACV good for your gut health, but it can be used topically. You can use it as a skin toner and cleanser by applying a small amount on a soft cloth or cotton pad and gently apply to your face. Also great for dabbing on warts and some moles, which can dry and then flake away.
When hair is lacklustre and not at its best you can dilute ACV and apply all over your hair from root to tip and then rinse well. Great to do this between shampooing and and conditioning, but just watch out to avoid getting it in your eyes. I speak from experience!!!!!!
Using ACV around the home as a cleaner. Simply mix in one part ACV to two parts water and shake and you have a bench, counter and all-round surface spray that has no nasty’s in it all. You can add essential oils to this mix if you would like for a more fragrant scent.
ACV can help with weight loss. Now whilst the science is still out on this one as some studies say yes and some are inconclusive we have testimonials from people who have added ACV to their diet and nothing else and have slowly but surely lost weight.
Because our ACV comes with the mother, it has gone through the fermentation process, which is great news for your gut health. Fermented foods aid in intestinal health and our Gut Happy ACV has the mother in it. Make sure when you serve it up, give the bottle a good shake and then pour with the knowledge your are making yourself Gut Happy with every sip.
We’ve spoken about our daily protocol and how we start our day with Apple Cider Vinegar before anything else and then try to have a serve 20 minutes prior to consuming any meals throughout the day. A serve is measured between 10 to 20mls and can be consumed straight, or like me diluted. However, you have yours it matters little. Incorporating Apple Cider Vinegar into your daily protocol and making it a good habit is an important part of your gut health and happiness and one that can give you a great boost internally, externally and even in your home. Always remember, we love your guts.
