Gut Happy Golden Mylk Porridge
The weather is turning, and cool mornings call for comforting healing breakfasts loaded with added gut goodness.
I’m not usually big on grains, as they can often upset and inflame some peoples guts, to avoid inflammation we suggest soaking your oats over night before cooking.
Ingredients
½ cup Wheat Free Oats, soaked overnight – simply add enough water to just cover oats (soaking grains helps our digestive system absorb them properly)
¼ - ½ cup coconut milk (or any other non dairy milk)
¾ teaspoon organic turmeric powder
½ tsp organic ginger powder
½ tsp cinnamon powder (+ extra to serve)
1-2 tsp raw honey
1 tsp coconut oil
½ tsp a.m. cleanse bone broth (or natural)
Plus toppings of your choice (peanut butter, coconut shreds, banana, hemp seeds, nuts and seeds)
Method
Place oats in a small saucepan, add 1/4 cup of coconut milk.
Heat over medium stove top and add turmeric, ginger, cinnamon, honey and coconut oil stirring consistently for 3-5 minutes or until porridge is cooked and ingredients are well mixed.
*You will not need to cook for long as pre-soaking of the oats breaks them down and reduces cooking time.
Take off stove and serve in a bowl.
Top with desired toppings (I added organic coconut shreds, hemp seeds, peanut butter, a sprinkling of cinnamon powder plus extra coconut milk)
